Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Internal Holiday ‘Hiring Freeze’

My manager told us today that we will have to wait until after the Holidays, which is in January (5 months away) to apply for any internal Verizon jobs. He said this is due to an “Internal Hiring Freeze”, which makes zero sense to me, since multiple people were promoted around this time of year last year. Someone tell me the truth, is this just some random rule he made to keep us in the store? Or is the company actually doing this? I’m going to ask HR just in case, but it’s honestly ridiculous that I can’t apply to jobs within the company for the next FOUR months. From my understanding, I always though hiring freezes usually just meant that the company was not hiring any external employees. I’m confused

@qci+1igKJ63j We haven’t heard of this in our district and we have 1 GM and 2 SM spots open. No way are they going into last quarter without those leadership roles filled.

Human Resources. Humans are the resource and their job is maximum extraction.

I get that HR’s job is to protect the company, but their job is also to provide support for the company’s employees. If Verizon’s HR isn’t doing the latter, then there’s a major problem. It’s literally called “human” resources. Other companies use it as such and I would assume Verizon does as well.

Don’t listen to the DONT call HR advice. Yes there job is to protect the company, however they do this in a number of different ways. If your manager isn’t being transparent about job opportunities HRs job is to correct this to (protect the company)

There is no “ hiring freeze “ if there are open positions available. This especially goes for retail which is so far behind the 8 ball they will never be at the right head count… managers and reps. Since a lot of reps are being promoted to sm’s it ought to be a lively Q4 with new hires walking and current reps doing a lot more work then usual.

HR is NOT YOUR FRIEND!!!!! THERE JOB IS TO PROTECT COMPANY AT ALL COSTS YOUR BETTER OFF SPEAKING TO A EMPLOYEE ATTORNEY IF YOU HAVE REAL ISSUES.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, fellow Vteamer. Looks like it’s time to tell Verizon to go shove it, get paid more, and leave them just in time for the holidays!

Boy, you need to keep selling 5G LOL

is not about you moving within the company is NOT finding more 20-year-old kids willing to become Vteamers and most of them only last 6 months and quit.

So, to avoid having fewer people in the store as it is, and holidays around the corner, iPhone, etc you get to stay in the store for the next 5 months,

Thank you Vteamer! (Hans broken English voice)
