Accept the offer from oracle, don't update LinkedIn, and jump if you get anything else. I worked for oracle a short time and it was such an incredibly toxic and disfunctional environment.. not worth it for your health. I didn't know it at the time, but leaving oracle was the best professional career i ever made. I am now with Google. It wasn't easy or rosy. But use them and drop them if you find something better. As long as it's within your probation period, it's legit.

“ I suspect the poster is a visa holder (non-native English) and is replacing one of the recently laid off US citizens.”

If it makes you feel any better , I am a US citizen.

“ Poster, why on earth would you want to move to a company that has been laying people off on a regular basis for decades? There is no future at Oracle.”
Which software company does not do layoffs? From what i’ve heard , OCI is one of the better orgs within O in terms of R &D investment. What’s wrong with considering this as one of the potential opportunities along with other companies i am talking to. ?

“ There is no future at Oracle. “

I have to take umbrage with this statement! There is, of course, a future for employees who stay at Oracle. A future full of continued grief and suffering, as you will fall further and further back with your wages compared to inflation. Your career will be capped by management that fears your talent! A future of uncertainty, waiting to be laid off at a moments notice.

Keep working harder, and you will get it (remember Boxer from Animal Farm)

"Wow. I was an IC5 that became a manager (in the US), that's way more than I made, and more than the IC5s I manage made. I think we've been getting screwed for years."

Any of us working here for last decade and more do not make that kind of money . I have seen these higher packages offered especially in OCI org . Good to see O is changing too , to compete with the market .

While a lot of things that are said here are true, I can tell you as a long time Oracle employee that a lot of things are just plain wrong. Every work place has its own upsides and downsides. Oracle is not an exception. It has wonderful things as well as terrible things.

What really matters at the end of the day is the people you will work with and how happy you are with your pay.

Is this for Ic4 or IC5? If it is IC4, take the offer. If it is IC5, they put unrealistic expectations and no further growth.

Keep interviewing. Oracle is a melting ice cube.
The remedity to make up for Cerner mistake is same as, with addicts, there's always another one out there and reality proves the cycle of bad decisions while, Oracle's debt (the often forgotten line item) continues to grow.
The untouchables live in a false reality. Those that say, Because I Can, will be caught. Truth is no one, is indesctrucinble. The names Oracle and IBM become weaker.
There is no job at Oracle that is secure. That which glitters can be dangerous.
At this point, any other offer would be better.
Hire to fire makes no sense. Short-term stragedy does not work Long-term.
It's all about LE's market share adrenaline rush. Addicts of all types, self-destruct.
Reality/truth ki--s relationships/acquisitions. It's just a matter of time.

Assuming this is a verbal offer. If so, keep going down the path with the other companies and see what happens. When I received my verbal Oracle offer, it took about 2.5 weeks before I got there's on paper. I had declined one from another employer and received two additional at that point. The Oracle offer was good leverage for improving the pay and bonus in the other offers. I stupidly, however, chose to work @ Oracle for $40K less per year and got laid off after 15 months. Recommend not repeating my mistake :)

“ What are your other offers?”

Do not have other final offers yet , but still in discussions with 2 others . From salary data available those companies would pay equal or better than O . Thinking of waiting until i receive offers from those as well before taking a decision

Vesting over 4 years is simply a way to entrap you into servitude.
