Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Nothing will get better here

I think that some hope in vain that things will improve here.
Can the situation get better here? Not really.
Can it get worse? Yes it can.
What is the miracle that needs to happen for UP to start valuing us more?

It can always be worse. You could always be like hotdog guy. He comes up with something stupid to say in every post. I think he's someone who's just batshit crazy, with nothing better to do than make se-ual references that are g-y in nature.

Ask your local manager if you can massage his hot dog and you will be promoted to the head of total safety culture.

I think you should seriously seek therapy, if you are already in therapy find a new therapist. This isnt hopeless, this isnt complex, this isnt over. I am a 2nd gen railroader. In neither my fathers time nor in my 20 yrs have I seen so many quit, so many not return from furlough, and it being so hard to attract applicants for new positions. If a bad contract is ratified it will only get worse for the carriers. If the carriers have a nefarious plan to coerce about a bad contract in order for more people to quit then under duress quickly get single man crews, we will see. Even if they get single man crews the carriers still need to compensate well enough to draw and retain employees in order to get the needed work done. The list of needed work to be done just keeps growing and growing.
