Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

The Great Resignation

Using yesterday’s answers to today’s questions has always been a formula for disaster!

While Oracle has been laying people off, literally for generations, and has accumulated a vast amount of knowledge around the process, they have not done so around The Great Resignation.

Oracle has not changed, we have! One can see that attitudinal change in the posts here. The old ways will not work like they used to.

Oracle may be drawing lessons from the posts here, but perhaps they should be more concerned about the multitude that do do post. Those who don’t sp-t into the wind, the generation of today that are more than willing to walk, not talk.

I'm seeing the great retirement. In last 3 months, 6 retirements + 1 transfer, 175+ years experience. 2 others resigned.

Resume update this weekend.

Everything changes! Nothing stays the same if it wants to continue. You observe, learn and adapt, or you wither. People are no different. I didn't last 35 years in IS/IT or whatever you want to call it, by not observing learning and adapting to the changing environment and even anticipating what will come next. I suspect that a sizable percentage of people reading this are just the same. They've watched the environment change, learned how to make the change and then changed with it.

the idea that you are loyal to your company and that company is loyal to you are gone forever. You are now a paid mercenary and as long at that check doesn't bounce you stay but when things change, you leave and don't look back. You owe them nothing but a day's work. People are waking up to that and are acting accordingly. That, too is observing learning and adapting. That is how your survive.
