Gaslighting: manipulate (someone) by psychological means into questioning their own sanity.

Don’t think we’re being gaslit. For the leaders that say all is good, no worries - they don’t have a choice and in the past, some have shared how they didn’t know what was going to happen until the actual meetings, they were just as much in the dark as we are. And, their job is to manage us to do our job. I think they’re only able to say and do so much

But they are mentioning layoffs and restructuring, and it’s not a false narrative and we aren’t being misled….if they said to us everything is great, and did layoffs that would be one thing, but they told us they’re restructuring. And, we’re aware they’re doing well in stocks, and they’re changing their direction and what they’re investing in and many of us will be laid off. That’s reality. How is that us being gaslighted?

Wow! You people are brutal.

Gaslighting: "Gaslighting is a colloquialism, loosely defined as making someone question their own reality. The term may also be used to describe a person who presents a false narrative to another group or person, thereby leading them to doubt their perceptions and become misled, disoriented or distressed. Oftentimes this is for the gas lighters own benefit."

Do any of you think the OP was referring to the fact that the executive leadership is constantly yammering on about how well the company is performing but not one word about any layoffs? Meanwhile they are laying off HUNDREDS of people since April (for this round).

The stock price is climbing and C Suite is getting richer by the day while those of us in the trenches are in fear for our jobs and worried about house payments, groceries, clothes for our growing children, car notes, and on, and on, and on.

It's like an abusive relationship, in public everything is coming up roses but at home people are terrified and cowering in the corner hoping it's not their day to be cut.

Maybe gaslighting isn't exactly the correct term but good grief, some of your reactions are no better than what we're seeing from C Suite.

Show a little grace in this time and go look in the mirror.....you are NOT perfect!

OP, what was the reason for this post? It feels really condescending.

Gaslit is completely inappropriate because no one is faking something that is causing the reactions in us, it is real what’s going on. Please be a bit more cognizant of your word use, or at least know the definition of the words you use….perhaps you didn’t know the meaning of the word and meant something else?

Here's a story.

I was worried about my job and someone started an online conversation asking about being gaslit. Totally ignored the fact that we are all worried about losing our jobs. Talk about tone deaf.

No I can no longer pay my mortgage or care payment but I feel acknowledged.

Any news about what departments and when the next round of layoffs are going to be? That’s the only reason why we come here.

no one in their right mind is going to share their story on a platform like this. it would remove the anonymous factor.

Why? Share our stories of being gaslit? Your post makes it seem like a celebration
