Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

What makes people think that their job is safe?

Never assume that you don't have to prepare for being unemployed. And yet, maybe there are still people who think that their positions are safe? I know from experience that there are always such people, who later regret ever thinking that their job was secure.

The only groups immune from layoff are the people that build and maintain the network.

At a Goldman Sachs financial conference on Sept. 14, Verizon Chief Executive Hans Vestberg said he expects consumer postpaid phone subscriber net additions to again be negative in the September quarter. He said Verizon might do better in the fourth quarter.Craig Moffett, analyst at MoffettNathanson, recently downgraded Verizon stock to under-perform. He noted that "whether it's total phones or postpaid phones, Verizon has lost market share in every quarter since the second quarter of 2020."

"Verizon has done its best to avoid being dragged into AT&T's promotional abyss, but their efforts have been met with only limited success," added Moffett.

That's why I left VZ and got a civil service job that pays great, has great benefits and a traditional pension. Also once permanent you can't be let go.. Hasn't been layoffs in the city since the 70's. There is life after VZ. Get out there and find a better place to work
