Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

The CEO Has No Network

McKinsey swindlers arrive at the Basking Ridge office an CEO who spends lavishly on frivolous ideas at the expense of employees and shareholders. Posing as experts, they offer to supply him with magnificent network that has no connectivity to those who are stupid or incompetent. The CEO hires them, and they set up in conference rooms and go to work. A succession of VPs, and then the CEO himself, visit them to check their progress. Each sees that the network won't work but pretends otherwise to avoid being thought a fool.

Finally, the consultants report that the network is finished. They mime watching 4k video and gaming. The employees uncomfortably go along with the pretense, not wanting to appear inept or stupid, until a sales rep blurts out that their phone can't get a signal. The people then realize that everyone has been fooled. Although startled, the CEO continues the build out, with the stock price lower than ever.

Yes, but those are only for PR soundbites. Execs have their own kingdom in BR between their locked floors and personal hotel. That being said, working in BR is blood money. No one is happy. No one is smiling... except on bonus day. Remember, BR doesn't generate revenue, so we have to continuously justify our roles or be RIF'ed.

Does Basking Ridge really have a cafeteria, a sushi station, a dry cleaners, a gym, and places to meditate and “center oneself”.
If so, seems like Nirvana compared to the pressure-filled hellish existence I faced each horrendous day.
