So, he was fired? IT is a very inefficient, ineffective organization. It has been for a long time. Is there more to come with other executives as well?

I am fascinated by the year old posts as the authors have no idea how companies run, how functional areas run, nor how leaders get & keep their jobs. They see it from their uninformed and limited view and think it is easy to redesign and entire functional group of 2,000+ people without impacting support services. With my 35 years experience I have helped countless people move up in companies only to see their eyes open when they discover the new job they take on as a first time Manager, first time Director, first time VP, and even first time C-Suite member. These people are always shocked by the difference the their new role from their last role. They thought they were ready and learned quickly that it is a very different job.
So, I share this - don't judge someone based on what you think you know. The CIO that left in Oct. 2022 did not have a conflict of interest with owning a company prior to them becoming a full-time employee years before. The CIO that person replaced needed to go as they caused more damage to the IT organization and more importantly to the entire company when they blindly outsourced to HCL and others like he did at Aon which cost him that job too. If you knew the facts and understood what is needed to run a functional group (and it is not outsourcing) you would have better insight and a better appreciation for real leaders and their ability to balance the transformational needs with the budget(s), politic(s), and employee development needs of the enterprise. Until then, you should seek more to understand and seek less to be understood.
Replying to “ HCSC’s business is full of leaders and teams who spend enormous resources building shadow IT groups that do basic IT work and claim to know all because they read something on google.”
Yes, this is a problem is most organizations. Somebody reads too much “Tech Disrupt” and signs a contact with an outside vendor that has only been in business 2 years. Trains themselves on Linked In and changes their e-mail signature to say “Digital Servant Leader”
Next thing you know someone hosts PII or PHI or Classified Business Plans in their google drive.
Here let’s try this. Share, AnyoneWithTheLink
Yay it works. High5 on that one Bro. Post that link on slack so we can remember it.
There is an IT innovation group?
To the other post: there WAS an official announcement inside the company. Maybe you did not receive it? What kind of official announcement were you expecting that the company didn’t do? And how did you learn of the change, then? Wondering if there has been a change from how things used to be communicated. I do think things will change more in IT. Needs to happen with the IS group of employees too. Refocus on what is most important for the business and jettison the rest.
still no official announcement on this, which makes me think more changes may be coming
Shadow IT groups get things done that IT can not get done. The IT group needs management that is focused and held accountable. The warm bodies being shifted around without application and business knowledge does not work.
agree wit the the last post. What does the IT innovation group do? what a joke. havent seen any innovation in IT in years. hoping new IT leader or COO keeps cleaning house.
HCSC’s business is full of leaders and teams who spend enormous resources building shadow IT groups that do basic IT work and claim to know all because they read something on google. These teams impact delivery , make irresponsible choices and impede whatever little progress IT makes - HCSC’s d-mb business and inefficient IT are a match made in heaven. They pushed out a CIO that was at least trying to build some structure into IT operations, replacement was more focused on earning business for his own company than making any actual improvements at HCSC IT. But we all know nothing terrible will happen as members still need insurance and will pay their premiums- so money will keep coming in and we will continue wasting it.
Yes.
