Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Will VZ ever be the industry leader again?

We were number one for years. Now we're not, besides cutting employees, what else can we do to get back to number one? I don't think Hans is capable of getting us back to number one.

No, and it don't matter. As Verizon, we do our own thing, rankings are bullsh-t. We just kinda go through the motions. Go Hans!

Hans is the best leader the company or any company for that matter has ever had.

Never.....when Verizon Communications acquired Vodafone's 45% interest in Verizon Wireless for $130 billion, that was then end. Verizon Wireless was doing great until the dark side acquired the rest and decided to change a well run organization running with minimal staff to begin with...The suits at Verizon are what ki---d us...to many chiefs. I remember showing up a meetings in Basking Ridge where there were 20 VZ employees to 2 vzw....the 2 vzw employee's did the work of those 20, who never seemed to pull their weight, although they looked great in their shirt and tie...Everything VZ has tried to introduce has failed...their music platform to compete with Apple's iTunes yeah right.
The Go90 platform, FIOS although a great solution, they soon realized trying to roll out across the country was a little more than a daunting task ....the list goes on...its understandable to have failures, but VZ is always late to the party.

Why did you ever think Hans was here to run a successful company? He’s a corporate raider. We will rebuild once he’s gone

No, we don’t put the focus on the customer. We try to squeeze every cent out of them instead. We then provide them a network that isn’t what it once was, arrogant and poor CS, and confusing bills.

Yes. VZ can be the market leader again, but not at our current profit margins.
Right now our strategy appears to be acknowledging that the days of high profit post paid customers are changing. We're the Premium brand in a country that is about to go in to a recession, so we're adjusting to that with the prepay and lower cost plan plays. This will be a hit to margins.
All of this appears to be a tie-me-over until our network is fully built out and optimized. To gain the competitive edge network performance we will have to spend way more per sub than we did with 4G, another hit to margins.
If we can sustain ourselves long enough to get through the recession and get our network right, we can compete and take back market share.

TMobile kicking a$$ largely due to not trying to be the cutting edge technology leader - rather they decided to focus on the customer experience. Verizon hasn’t figured out that customers won’t buy the next best greatest thing if Verizon can’t execute on doing the basic things correct.

It'll take our competitors to make huge mistakes and Verizon avoiding any further huge mistakes. I personally don't think there is anything VZ can to do suddenly turn everything around and people to flock to VZ and pay lots of money unless it is to escape something bad elsewhere.

Prepaid and low cost plans with data rate lowering is a race to the bottom.

Reading some of the comments on these threads, it seems like the toxicity runs very deep throughout the company.

Hans bet the company on 5G, and it's not looking like it's playing out very well; it may yet prevail, but I think it's going to be a very rough 12 months ahead.

We need a real leader with a solid vision. The culture went toxic when Lowell took over and then Hans made it worse.
