I see new roles being advertised for VMware and their recruiters keep pinging me on a weekly basis for Solutions Engineering type roles. If VMW is in as much trouble as it appears to be in, then why are they hiring so aggressively?

@unc+1iRotBfD hopefully we actually get those backfills, but I bet we will go from 5 slices each to 15 slices each when Broadcom has their way with us.
Because it’s business as usual until we know that it’s not.
If you are not getting back fills maybe that is a good indicator that your BU is either bloated or doesn't make enough money.
Hence why some BUs are getting new hires because they are making money.
In many groups the roles are, at least for now, business critical. Anything associated with rolling out offerings that drive business value are being back filled for now.
I see they are hiring a lot of graduates/juniors for every position everywhere.
Probably the only way to be able to hire people.
But I like the idea, it is an opportunity for them to gain valuable experience and have a strong name in the cv, and if in one year you loose the job not a big deal when you are 25y.o.
A number of backfill requests were finally approved. Still, only a fraction of the total requests.
The acquisition could take another year or so, and there's a lot of paying customers to care for until then.
@yra+1iRotBfD in my org TAM it's because we have far to much business demand and can't keep up along with people who left.
But I can imagine some bus not hiring new
These are almost certainly roles being backfilled, to replace the headcount for people that are leaving.
The situation is different in each BU and there are a lot of know-nothing malcontents on this forum.
