Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Severance

If they would just offer it to any of the 10+ or 15+ year employees in retail many would take it and be off your books. Win-win

Lmao. You retail b-ms have no actual sales responsibilities anymore. Your role has been reduced to “would you like fries with that?” Type of selling with no actual sales foundational concepts, and you think you’re getting severance?

They’re going to bleed you dry, do as I did and start looking for some new sales roles outside the company.

I don't know... it's over $100k+ when you include benefits for a shell of a person. We can drag this out but 40-50k to part ways would seem mutual.

the company is losing money and you think they are going to offer you severance LOL

Boy, you don't get it right!

They rather drive you nuts and quit and just stay there complaining!

I appreciate the insight. Certainly disappointing but not shocking.

Rest those weary eyes my retail friends, it’s death by a thousand cuts for you. The days of group commission are coming to a close come January, end of FY22. Current plan is to take the average performance of commissions at a team level, and multiply it by 12, that will be your yearly raise in 2023 unless you have a below rating (where there will be no raise given). The commission structure will be absorbed into salary. We are also working on an employment separation agreement for long term employees that will allow for them to take 1 week of salary for every year over 5 years, with a maximum of 10 full weeks. Doesn’t sound like a lot, right? Well that’s because it isn’t, lol. What i will tell you, the job market is amazing for folks with several years of experience right now. Check out Comcast and Charter if you are looking. Don’t believe me, wait until the job pool is flooded, good luck.

The only ways they can legally offer the severance in a retail store location is : building closure or conversion to reseller, elimination of position and reduction in store headcount. The reduction in head count which they did do during that Covid year was completely ridiculous. Some took severance but most elected to take a WFH job. Verizon hasn’t been able to back fill or get stores to respectable staffing levels since. Best case scenario is find a store that has a lease about to expire and is doing very poorly. Try to transfer to that store ASAP.

You mean a voluntary separation program’ but just retail? Sure why not but they could just make it unlivable like they are doing and wait for quitting.

After taxes and in this current economic climate employees are better off just quit quitting.
