Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

700+ Layoff Enterprise Wide

Some were surprised when I mentioned the 700+ number regarding layoffs, so I wanted to make this it’s own post for more visibility. The 700+ layoff is the true number that I’ve heard rumbling around. I wish they would stop downplaying it by calling it a “realignment”. It will be focused enterprise-wide, and that every single department will be impacted in some capacity. Wether that means you’ll report to someone new, have colleagues RIF’d, or be included in a department merger, somehow and someway, your department will be impacted. I’m also hearing that market mergers and Directors who will be layed off have already been established, and communication emails are already being sent. (Which is why I’m so frustrated by the ambiguity. If things are already being finalized, be honest about that in the town halls and give people time to prepare, especially if you already know their department will be completely eliminated.) I have been told that we will begin to find out about Associates Directors and below by mid October. The next communication email surrounded by layoffs is expected to hit on Nov 1.

BH, SNP and automation areas seem to be growing while other areas are being consolidated or the fat trimmed. Personally I think MCR CM will be spared this round.

Its interesting so much talk of layoffs and at the same time weekly manager meetings saying gumana is hiring more Case Managers for behavioral health and humana at home and SNP. Does this mean these departments Frontline staff will be spared from layoffs?

Humana answers to its stockholders. What the higher ups forget is that the employees are also stockholders. Managing your bottom line on the backs of hard working employees while hiring offshore contractors seems to be an oxymoron. 90% of their revenues are from our tax dollars. Why are they permitted to lay off US Citizens while paying incompetent offshore resources to meet their billion dollar cost reduction? Thanks for nothing -

How does this impact teams aligned under behavioral health, pharmacy or SNP?

Market realignments have already been established. Directors and VPs have been given notice. Front line employees will find out their fate by November. This reduction won’t just affect the markets either. Every single team will be evaluated. Big changes a coming!

Yes, I would believe 700+ company wide, this is a complete re-do of this company, so yep, many will get impacted. Some thoughts to remember in these times: Things happen for a reason, yes the timing is cr---y ( holidays) but if your number is called, just be prepared, have a plan, depending on your individual situation/ family. If you can afford to wait it out and see, then so be it. if you are ready to move on, so be that... at least they are giving us heads up months in advance, so do with that info what you think is best. They haven't made all the final decisions on front line people yet, a lot of that probably depends on enrollment which is going on now, so Im sure it a fluid thing up until whenever open enrollment is done. Keep any good information coming, I know most of it is speculation at this point, but every little bit of information helps someone prepare. Good luck to all of us!!
