Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

Raises as an UW?

How do we have amazing profitable quarters, bringing in millions/billions in premium and yet we are not given any raises/promotions throughout the year?

I thought we are considered cash cows? So if we bring in money shouldn’t we be rewarded?? IM SO CONFUSED. All my insurance friends at other carriers get many cash incentives, bonuses, raises and promotions throughout the year. Why is AIG like this?

We will say whatever we want here. We can complain all we want, and you can’t do a thing about it. Love to meet you to who you are and spill my beer on you.

The London office is haemorrhaging UWs across all lines, but they continue to hire various client and broker directors all at G22 and above and other non essential roles.

Average pay rise back in April was 2% and the london market is red hot for UWs. No one of any decent experience wants to join AIG knowing how poor the pay is and the immense work load.

Is uw really being moved to Accenture? Does anyone know when?

PCG is experiencing a mass exodus of underwriters and we are finding the grass is actually much greener on the other side.

Not sure what delusional world the OP lives in, but in the AIG world it’s been very well know, for years, the underwriters here are underpaid. That’s why, anytime any uw left to go to another company, the min raise was 20%, if not more. Not sure what the current uw managerial talent is now, but back in the day AIG was the best place to learn the craft and then go cash out somewhere else. So, if you’re “insurance friends” are getting all those perks, then how much more evidence do you need to realize that you should be high tailing it outta AIG asap?

It has been this way for many years. I know many Underwriters who left for other companies in the last year and most received a raise of at least 20% increase or more lost little to no PTO compared to AIG and a company who will appreciate them. If you are still at AIG you well I guess you will continue with no bump in pay or promotions.
