Hiring freeze is a tell tell sign that layoffs are coming. Just recently there was an internal/external hiring freeze. The question is, which area of business (i.e. Business, Wireless, etc.) will the freeze affect. If tradition has it, the freeze will happen sometime around Oct/Nov timeframe. Chances are that the employees who are laid off will have the opportunity to work through the end of the year. Giving them the opportunity to find a job elsewhere...
Any word on if they’ll offer voluntary lay off with severance similar to RIFs in 2018?
They are planning it now. Various options depending on business results. Will need to wait for iphone results.
Wait until after the dust settles from the iPhone launch. If the performance is weak compared to the competitors if it's strong or inline it'll be different. Either way, another RIF is incoming, because there always should be a balancing of resources. Verizon hasn't laid enough people off.
