Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

How to tell if you're a fake interview?

Let's say a hiring manager already knows who they want, or, they're being leaned on to hire someone particular.

But they still have to have x number of interviews to make it look good.

Other than monotone disinterest from the hiring manager throughout the interview, are there any other signs that you're a fake interview, especially before the interview?

I'm very well qualified for a particular role, and recruiters always screen me and recommend me, but the last 2 interviewing managers seemed uninterested from the very start.

I can deal with that - I can't be everyone's favorite employee. But it's WEIRD when they scheduled the interview! If you don't like my resume or screening answers, then just don't interview me!

I REALLY hate that. Interviewing isn't trivial.

Then you ask for next steps/decision timeframe at the end of the interview, and you get "I don't know, whenever HR stops sending resumes".

Seriously?!

Ugh...

Got an offer outside the company last week, told my manager, he got a counter-offer through two levels, denied at third and final level (executive). Didn't even lower the counter, just outright denied it. 14 years here. At least they made it an easy decision for me. Work towards a promotion that I should have had 2 years ago or accept the outside position for 25K more. Gee, that's a hard one. My position will be replaced by someone in India, much cheaper.

Ask the recruiter questions:

Is there someone temporarily filling this job until someone is hired? If yes, there is a good chance that person will get it. You can also ask them if the manager has strong internal candidates "on their team" in mind. Again, there is a way to spin the question, and if the recruiter cannot the questions, then sc--w the job. You can ask if they have had a good experience with the hiring manager. In addition, you can try to find out if they are confident that the role will not get cancelled.

Honestly, people at Wells are so incompetent it's hard to know if you are being blown off or they aren't competent enough to do their jobs.

Wells Fargo blocks most internal promotions. Tried for years to move internally but easily got an external offer within a month.

If you've wasted a ton of time internal with no luck and bogus interviews i highly suggest 100% stop looking internal and start applying at competitors. Competitors always love to steal employees.
I've personally know many who have tried to get out from under a bad boss and will look for years. I've also seen people in expensive locations try and jump and its a no go because WF is he-l bent on hiring the d-mbest/cheapest headcount possible they can't escape their situation. In all these cases its better to put in 100% to find a competitor to move on to. And if your in a really bad situation just quit for your health and well being.

If you don't know the interviewer on a personal level it's a good sign they won't hire you.

It happened to me. The hiring manager had originally hired me, in fact. She played it beautifully - as if I had a chance - asked some hard questions and I felt like I knocked it out of the park. She didn’t have the courtesy to call me to tell me they picked a different person - a female colleague who was a friend of the hiring manager - before they announced she got the job. Not even enough respect to let me know first that they gave the job to someone else. It’s bogus at WFC. Now this woke horses#it: https://stocks.apple.com/A3rKx4wqTTZuCCYCyVYGzQQ

It’s a shell game and only the one running the game knows the rules, which are created as you play the game. Does that better explain the world of WF ifor you?
