Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

to Saul: thank you for the opportunity to work from home and earn two salaries

to Saul: thank you for the opportunity to work from home and earn two salaries. honestly, thank you.

working for wells from home is a true blessing especially considering I have another full time contracting job that I can work at the same time because your org is so full b.s. non-work that I just sit around doing nothing because there is nothing to do.

instead, I make good use of my time working a full time remote contracting gig. this second full time job has replenished my back account from getting screwed over during the comp and review changes, as well as the no merit increase changes

I appreciate it and so does my bank account. keep it up

Horrible or genius? I get it, pretty sh---y but I do know developers who are doing this. Saw an article of one dev who had 6 full-time contract positions he was juggling. Did video calls, meetings, the whole works. Of course he was single and not sleeping much.

hey OP- d-mb post to make. IF you're doing this, so be it. But you're making the higher ups that assume or think this may be happening if they can't micromanage us in person feel right. Most of us that had been remote prior to Covid were just hard working people doing their jobs and a load of laundry or taking their dog for a quick walk around the block, not stealing company time. What you are doing, and posting about, makes all remote employees look bad.

@1oaz+1iHWn3DO... no.. no it's not. they terminated WFH to force attrition so that they do not have to do mass layoffs and pay out massive severance packages. Yes, they've been doing targeted cuts here and there but that is no where near what is needed.

terminating WFH, changing the comp structure, merit increase rules, as well as moving to a forced ranking system are all designed to force "natural" attrition.

It's all in the Charlie playbook from his past two employers.

this is why they terminated WFH

So true. You bust your rear end for years working for a company only To have them change compensation. I liked Legacy WF better than the current WF It turned out to be now. So the fact of the matter is that I didn’t change, I’ve been the same, hard-working conscious employee for several decades. The one doing the changing is the company. So yes, I will be waiting for my golden severance. If not, I’ll continue to coast, or quietly quit, while quietly being fired. In other words, thank you for all this wonderful vacation time I’m being paid for.

"...bare minimum..."

I am doing what I was hired to do. Nothing more. I'm not going to volunteer for anything or do my manager's job for them.

for far too long this company has gotten away with placing expectations on workers to do more work than they are being paid for and then not paying them for doing the extra work (working late, weekends, etc.), taking on extra responsibilities and then not being paid extra for those extra responsibilities.

This is called "wage theft".

To top it off, they change the comp system, the ratings system, and nix merit increases.

What makes it more insulting is the company intentionally seeking out DE&I candidates to fill executive and other roles as if that is going to fix anything. many of these people do nothing but parrot buzz words and other nonsense while their management eats it up because they don't know any better.

So yeah, you all can pi-s off while I work another job while I am at home.

I love WFH/remotely. Some days I have to remind myself that I still work for this company. My leadership is so lethargic they don’t care how productive I am. I kind of consider myself retired. My biweekly paycheck a pension. Yes, I do all the mandatory training just to keep up appearances. In the meantime, I’ll enjoy this so-called sabbatical until somebody realizes my potential or other? No, I’m not moonlighting. Hooray, for those who like working multiple jobs. I’m merely waiting out management. Perhaps, someday I’ll be assigned leadership that actually cares.

So true. I’ve noticed over the years that legacy WF team members are being pushed out. I was a star employee getting lots of awards and Hawaiian vacations. I was putting in the time. The Wachovia merger happened and the account scandal happened. These two occurrences change the company for the worse. I tried and tried to do my part to make the company better, unfortunately I’m just one cog in the engine. When you’re surrounded with teams that just don’t seem to care (Or have been demoralized) we’re just spinning our wheels. These days, I’m just moved from manager to manager. Nobody knows me, now. I’m caught between quiet firing and quiet quitting. Many years of experience, but not stupid enough to quit a nice fat salary and a nice fat potential severance for all my years of service. I’m not the problem. The company just changed directions. They are waiting me out. Besides, RTO, combined with the appearance of quiet firing have allowed me much free time. Don’t get me wrong, I was happy doing the job, I’m just happier that I’m more productive, now.

I’m working from home busting my bu-t 9-11 hours a day. I love the challenge, and the people who depend on me seem genuinely grateful for my work on their behalf. They help me and o help them. I don’t know where these alleged boring jobs are with nothing to do, but it’s not my group. Sorry you’re bored; maybe you should raise your hand and offer to help,

@1njp You're assuming I'm not handling just as much work as every peer. I am. I'm just more efficient.

@zbm+1iHWn3DO Simple. You THINK you’re so efficient but what’s really going on is you are doing the bare minimum. This leads to managers piling more work on people invested in doing the best job they can. So you have a lighter workload because management doesn’t want to spend the time telling you what MORE you should be doing while they overburden the people being honest and giving their one job all their best effort.

Unethical people working at a company with a laundry list of ethics violations shouldn’t be surprising but to people who are being honest you are.

The IT staff at our location has been pretty sad as of late and some people have left from that staff. This needs to end.

Why are inefficient workers always so angry when efficient workers can get more done than them?

If I'm doing the equivalent of your job and holding down a separate job, why do you think I'm the worse employee? I'm at least twice as good as you are.

This is the same mentality that has exempt employees filing out time cards every two weeks so that management has yet another review item to performance management out who they can. This place is layers of stupidity.

Someone needs to look up fraud and see what it actually means.

But I know, you get your talking points from certain networks with an agenda.

Anyone who does this is committing fraud. But I guess the Florida resident told an impressionable generation for the last six years that is ok.

dont blame yourself for managements inability to keep people productive with actual real work.

Google management is having a crises over the "rest and vest" mentality. we have had the same here for decades.

This is what people mean when they say they’re more productive working from home.

No judgment here. I don’t work a second job, because I prefer to spend time with my kids, but I don’t blame anybody who does. Beats sitting in a cubicle struggling to look busy.

I wrote before that there are many folks doing this thanks to WFH.
Good luck to you.
Thanks Wells for continued WFH. The bank has no work to do for 8 hours/day.
