Year end performance assessments due in September

Is it common to have year end performance assessments due in September?

Yes. And managers' calibration of scores are done in early October. Actual performance pay increases and bonuses are locked down in November. Sure, the field to add more "accomplishments" by your manager is open until December, but all decisions are complete well before December.

You're not evaluated on your entire year's worth of performance. You're evaluated on the last 2 weeks "performance" before your manager writes the review.

Real performance at your job doesn't play much into your review. More important is weather or not your manager likes you.

Not entirely accurate. Yes, we have to submit a review early...but it remains editable through the end of the year to add / change things to reflect Oct-Dec perf.

the same question gets asked every year and since we moved perf cycle up to Feb everything else needs to be completed.

Yeah it's been this way for years. Anything you do in October-December, just put it on next year's accomplishments.
