Why are you doing this?

Not really working. I get off by participating in Zoom meetings with no pants on while drinking a Margerhita.
Not used to having a life of their own.
@1akn Not your problem.
If your employer doesn’t staff your organization to a level sufficient to meet their basic work requirements, then it isn’t on you to work during your paid time off to make up for for any shortcomings.
Your life is “he-l” because you’re trying to meet impossible expectations. Provide the average performance you were hired to provide. It’s not as if there’s job security or a future in doing anything more anyway.
Because if I don’t my life is he-l when I return. Permian doesn’t staff two deep. No one is going to do my job when I am out and the work never stops.
After all the years and decades of focusing on work I realize I have no real friends left and most of my family hates me. I like zoom meetings on vacation because it's all I have now
I work to clear my emails while on vacation not because i love EM. But because i dont want to be swarmed the moment i am back with the pile of emails that accumulates. The kind of mental stress.
But having said so, i have seen exaggerated examples in EM.
The epitome i have seen is someone dialing in a t conference and doing a presentation while he is in the hospital recuperating. Another was he dial in for a presentation while on vacation with his kids. Brought his laptop to the hotel room and work on his deck.
This is EM.
Misguided belief they live forever and all the wasted time attending to PowerPoint and email will be worth it. How sad. How very sad.
I don’t do this. Thems is mines vacation days
- Feeling of self importance, or 2. Fear of losing visibility and tanking in next rank cycle.
Some have. been vacationing while working.
Vultures, that’s why.
