I have given myself a deadline so that even if I survive, I will leave this place during the next few months. It's a stressful period for everyone who is laid off, but I don't think that survivors will be much better off either. It wouldn't surprise me if many survivors start leaving soon.

Again, even those you met that did not meet your standards probably figured things out. It doesn't matter. You will typically not be rewarded no matter what you do. Some stayed because it was the best spot for what they do despite not getting raises, etc. Those who have options typically leave. I think Oracle wants people to leave. Hence, they don't do the things to keep people unless they are favored with someone with influence. I was a long time Oracle employee. Most people I know when you pulled them aside and they trust you would give their true opinion and it was never a great one. Beaten down after awhile and that is when you know its time. I don't personally see anything about Oracle moving forward that will take the industry by storm. They IMO are milking the revenue they receive on past deals. Moving forward they have Cerner now - we shall see how that goes, OCI which nobody wants really and Fusion Applications which are dated and lack real cloud first feel. The white flag was thrown on cloud when they did the partnership with MS. MS does not need Oracle in the cloud but Oracle needed them. Only a matter of time when OCI will be gutted for the most part. Oracle is back to being a database provider but in the cloud and that is dependent on applications that can withstand crossing the network to another datacenter and vendor for that matter.
Are about the trauma. Don’t necessarily agree that you had to be smart to get in to Oracle. I did meet a lot of very good people in my time there, unfortunately, also a lot of very dim people that just coasted along.
You are a smart person. Use this opportunity to evaluate your skills versus market demand. If they meet them, I would leave personally and then it is on your terms. If you have gaps, start solving the key ones you can. Then keep looking. For 95% of the people at Oracle whether you are good or not - and let's face it typically everyone at one point were outstanding or they wouldn't have been at Oracle in the first place - your time is coming. You will be laid off eventually. Most begin to lose motivation because the direction and strategy is not clear or they know its BS and the compensation with not even cost-of-living raises for most is not there. That alone should tell you how you are valued. You are not. Leave and go someplace where you are appreciated and you don't have to worry about getting the axe. Most Oracle people don't realize they are already traumatized.
What happened last week it only fastened my decision to start looking for a new job.
It is less stressful to find a job while you still have a job, so do it now before it is too late unless you ready for retirement, then wait for the layoff package.
O pays lot less than others and once you are in, no more yearly increments or bonuses. So nothing that keeps anyone here for so long unless you are so comfortable and your skills are outdated.

This will be my last Fiscal. Waiting for an offer …. After 12 years, I am more than ready to go!
Yes - after last week this moved from a 2 year bridge job to an obvious mistake that I need to correct. Was hoping to have some stability at Oracle and gain a few wins for the resume (my previous gig was a misfire, this was supposed to be my rebound), but that’s seemingly out of my control now.
Starting networking, updated my LinkedIn and resume over the weekend. At my pay grade it’ll take about 6 months to find a decent gig. I’m hoping to land something by January, hopefully don’t get laid off between now and then. Good luck to us all.
