Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

SMs get ready, YOU ARE NEXT!!!

2 SMs per store so they can be in the back watching tv or the cameras is no longer necessary, so get ready because the Rumor is.......

YOU ARE NEXT!

Sorry Vteamers but we no longer need you to watch the cameras or be on your phone while all the key holders do cash, box count, receive inventory etc.

So, it's a lot cheaper to just get you out of the door....

So get your things ready because you are next to become a Customer!

@hbm+1i78Cj6x This is pretty much true except I know a lot of managers in the past who should never have become managers. Most got in because of cliques etc. As far as now goes it’s true they are filling management jobs with unlikely candidates because they are desperate. Over the last few years a lot of decent talent has left because they didn’t want to become a permanent door greeter or have less opportunity making commission. The new hires coming in have been the weakest I’ve ever seen in my 15 years here. As time goes on everyone in the store seems to know less about everything. It amazes me that Verizon has let it get to this point.

I interviewed for a high role that anyone in retail old sales days would be qualified for. I asked what a typical day was like and she said "typical day is about 80% on calls" lol

The higher you move up in Verizon the more time on blue jeans you get.

District Managers and Directors allow the GMs to hide in their office and work open shifts Monday through Friday. They can look at UKG and see the GMs schedule themselves. M-F opening shifts only and no weekends. Hello stop ignoring this easy to find info! These are the same stores with poor culture and high turnover. These are the same managers that are on calls or working on a project in the office 40 hours a week. These golden boys and girls give good GMs a bad name. Get every GM to work 1 weekend day per week on average and close twice a week. Bad GMs will always have an excuse to hide in the office. Not sure how you regulate that unless you ask THAT in your pulse survey. (Does your GM spend more than 2 hours/day outside the office?) You will never see it on a survey because it would sting. Amazing how we ignore issues. What about those GMs with work from home days!!!!! Lol. How do you manage a store from home? Who allows this??? Congratulations, we promote you to desk jockey! Here is your Bluejean crown.

The typical Retail Manager has a Monday through Friday desk job. 30 minutes at most on the floor and maybe a weekend day every other month to cover a vacation. Keep those useless bluejean calls going. Waste of space.

Our sms work circles around our gm, gm shows up late every day, not 5 minutes, sometimes 2 or 3 hours, leaves early and sits in the office all day, gets on some dm calls but mostly talks on the phone all day to friends, never comes on the floor and threatens to write people up all the time. Our sms bi--h all the time about it.

I dont even try to hustle boomers. I answer their question about their email and such and send them on their way. No money made for me or vz but at least the old folks are happy their email works again. And that's 98% of our customers now.

Please offer me a sev. It would be the greatest thing to ever happen to me.

Still astonished we have so many stores. Collectively they had negative growth last quarter. So what do they do again besides hustle geriatrics into overpriced accessories?

There was a time when getting promoted to SM or GM meant something. Now anyone who hangs around long enough gets promoted by default. There use to be a dozen people applying for open management positions , now very few are interested. Why is that ? These DM’s are stuck with bottom of the barrel people to chose from...especially GM’s. There are so many people in leadership roles that are far from leaders. Drink the kool aid , kiss some bu tt or sweet talk ...hang around long enough get the job, that’s the new formula. It surely isn’t about store numbers anymore.

I was laid off about a year ago. Don’t worry, the job market is still great. I love my new job, I make about the same amount of money, and I don’t worry about layoffs every 6 months. It’s a blessing if you get severance.

Except most AM do the most work and work the most hours. Those of us that have a successful store are pushing hard every day.

Imagine being so small minded as to hate your SM and not the people 5 levels above who actually decide things. SM are less than peons in the grand scheme.
