Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

You need a job somewhere other than Oracle

Oracle has turned out to be the worst kind of employer. Providing no information to its employees in situations like this is truly traumatizing for the employees.

Even though we know that Oracle is a heartless, soulless company, we still expect to be treated better.

Other companies will provide a better situation for those employees who were let go. That won't happen without effort. But, putting in effort now can pay off later. Getting out of Oracle is the way to go.

When I was laid off elsewhere I was taken to a conference room where an HR droid read from a script to deliver the bad news. Once that was done I was given a manila envelope with some papers. I was told to sign a paper if I wanted severance. Then I was escorted out the door. This is pretty much SOP in Corporate America

Other than a good severance package, what else do you want? Do you want HR to tell you that they love you? Have you been following the news? Lots of firms are laying off, with no warning, and many provide less severance.

Cisco conducts layoffs in the same manner... toughen up at Oracle. At least this was a publicly announced layoff. Companies such as Cisco will conduct stealth layoff quarterly to avoid bad PR.

When someone tells you who they are believe them the first time.

In your spare time Google Peoplesoft.

I am sorry for your trauma.

No company is heartfull or soulfull. All companies layoff people in a heartbeat. And then immediately after open new positions to rehire when they could just move existing people around instead if laying them off.
