Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Is this only source for competitors to bite?

Reading some of posts here and slowly coming to conclusion that nothing unexpected is happening. Company is reorganizing. With such it's not always easy/possible to please everyone, who was maybe within underperforming units, but by themselves were brilliant. Proper/timely communication absence? It's always issue within big orgs, even between some Eng teams. Nothing new. Make public aware that huge chunk of free workforce is coming? Well, these days crisis is everywhere - pandemic, inflation, etc.

So do we all want to know then how such will affect IT industry in near future or anything else here?

D-mbest post I have seen. We are all mourning here loss of our colleagues. Probably you are from OCI. Post this message when OCI, which AWS considers is a joke, has the same fate .

The way to argue is probably objective OKRs/KPIs to be met and other related metrics. And it's not just one person thing, but some team's/unit's. Then there is some ground to object and involved protection of expected execution at least in theory. If all that was in place and still led to cut - then it's much bigger tectonic shift involved.

How will this affect the IT industry? Like a pebble dropped into the ocean - some localized ripples quickly washed out by larger waves. Like every other big layoff Oracle has done for many years. ReOrg? To what end? Everyone has seen these reorgs come and go with little or no impact. How many of the people laid off will actually land back at Oracle in the next few weeks? The headcount increased since the "big" layoffs in 2017, 2020, etc. It makes me sad that people go back to their abuser like this - I suffer from that as well.
Competitors don't need this site and justified negative views to have something to win over Oracle - that's Oracle thinking. The competitors win with products and services and respecting customers and employees. LE has always just bashed people, competitors and customers and just looks for a sleazy advantage because it cant' win through products and services and respect.
