I have no other advice for everyone who is very stressed out now, except to try more than ever to look for new opportunities. I guess most people are now anxious through the roof?
Unfortunately, stress and panic do not contribute to anything good. It's always better to move while you can or at least try to, before someone else makes that decision for you.

Apply at GM. They have taken almost anyone fired from Ford in the past.
Then please do it and save a spot. Anyways for the skills you acquired at Ford you are not a desired candidate.
