Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Where's the tone from the top?

Layoffs are going on, rumors and gossip in (social) media everywhere. But no communication from the 'leadership' team of Oracle, leaving Oracle's workforce globally in limbo about the bigger plan behind this and Oracle's future strategy. Lesson #1 in communication books and training in such cases: communicate, communicate, communicate. Instead @ Oracle: total silence and invisible chiefs.

Do you really think they CARE????? They are not only bullies, they are also moral and ethical cowards of the worst kind. Narcissists and borderline sociopaths. The most vile people I can think of. And not even all that great. Look at the state of the company and the number of acquisitions that succeeded. Success rate like that in any other situation gets you sent to the bread line.

Internal communications channels -- i.e., Slack -- are absolutely silent. Not a single mention of layoffs, etc. One manager suggested this quiet is a probably a good thing, but honestly, it only makes everyone feel less secure. Absolutely NOT how I would handle such a thing were I an exec.

Sort of like Dr. Evil,

He does own a volcano island lair.

This is Oracle’s corporate attitude, and has been since forever.

They are not in the business of being warm and fuzzy. The top guy is known for managing by insult and playing an extreme game of favorites among his staff. Sort of like Dr. Evil, but thank gosh LE doesn’t have a son waiting in the wings 😂

Managers who co-opt this posture stay around. Those who try to push back are neutered and pushed out.

Sorry that so many found this out firsthand. You would need LE completely out of the picture, and his little minion Safra too. A complete turnover of mgmt with a new mission and purpose defined.

I’m an old IT guy, so maybe in -your- lifetime this could happen. Most likely they will fail miserably and the pieces get sundowned or sold off.

Take this experience and move on stronger.

Until we keep doing our jobs and being the "yes men" they will keep going this way.

The line should be - no information, no work

ZERO EMPATHY this should be on every linkedin post. Let every potential employee know this is what to expect from the O

As was well stated in earlier post about lack of communication - LE and all of O leadership have disrespected the loyal employees by lacking the decency to inform everyone about what exactly is the plan, who is affected...etc

Won't be forgotten.

This signaled to me that layoffs are not over yet. If you’re in a legacy product or in a growth product, switch your LinkedIn to open to work.

Apart from them calling you to tell you that you are fired.
