Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Working through the uncertainty hanging around

Uncertainty is the worst. I've never been laid off before and it would be a big shock to me if I were affected, but in any case I would like to find out the bad news as soon as possible. When can we expect this round of layoffs to end?

I understand the uncertainty factor. I was interviewing in the Taleo group. Now I don’t know the status of where things stand. I wonder if that group had job cuts. Anyway, I have other interviews lined up with other companies so maybe my situation was a blessing in disguise. My heart goes out to those who lost their jobs.

When I first started at Oracle, there was a layoff. I never forgot that it could happen at any time and lived with the specter of that issue for years. Funnily enough, when it happened to me, I was not thinking of the possibility as my team was overwhelmed with work, projects, certifications. But happen it did. When they come for you, it will hurt. But it will truly be okay.

The only thing you can control is you. So if you are in fact, scared of what's to come, take action instead of mulling. Update your resume, start networking, add to your LinkedIn profile, and everything else.

To make you feel better, being laid off is just temporary issue, you will be just fine and will look back and smile. I do hope that you do not get impacted by layoffs though. ✌️
