Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

It would be great

It is always better to leave voluntarily, when a person finds a better opportunity, than to be laid off. I saw several posts here about possible layoffs in August, while others are of the opinion that those layoffs will not happen. Why do you think layoffs won't happen soon? What are the arguments? I would also like to think that there won't be any but it's better to be cautious.

Cash on hand? LOL! There is NO CASH ON HAND! BBBY did a wonderful "Stock buy back program" last year, which should, actually, be illegal. Many floundering companies do it. It guarantees large stockholders a "floor" on the stock price - gives the CEOs time to dump and pump! Cash on hand is in the toilet. Credit ratings for BBBY are in the toilet. Who would even do business with BBBY, besides UGG? And funny to see store managers acting like they can save this company.... too funny. Keep beating up the employees you have - awesome Store Managers!

GC and MR mentioned are stellar performers! They have kept this company competitive and customer friendly! REAL associates respect their work ethic and their commitment to
quality customer service. We need many more GC and MR!!!

The NJ WARN ACT was paused during Covid and there has been a push to get it back in effect. Overly simplified: large company’s owe two weeks severance to laid off employees. Perhaps BBBY is trying to manage people out before it’s put back in place? Wouldn’t surprise me at this point.

The DM was JG in NJ. Clearly someone who could only sp-t back the latest sound bites he heard. He only valued his favorites and was low key misogynistic.

To the poster who said they worked out two weeks, and the DM barely acknowledged you, I’m guessing you are talking about either GC or MR in FL. This screams like something either of those two spineless “leaders” would do.

Your DM was like that out of jealousy, he probably wishes he was able to get out sooner than anyone else. Being a DM he is most likely on the chopping block.

Oh this is fun…..hmmmm….if poster a calls poster b a liar. Then can’t poster b post said communication into this not bitter message board to quiet poster a?

@1eqy. Obviously you didn't get the communication yet.

There are only TWO choices. Sir or ma'am. Period.

Hopefully it includes DMs and RMs who are still working from home. The stores could use their help.

You sir or ma'am are a liar. Your piece about the vaccine was never communicated. Sad what you must do for attention. Lonely much?

CEO just sent out a notice to all "hybrid" workers that they will need to come back on site in Sept.

And all employees that are hybrid will have to get vaxxed ( if they dont have an exemption..this is despite the fact that the vax is not slowing down the spread, and is really just relevant for the first few strains...have to get the booster for delta protection...there is nothing for omni protection ( yet )

Companies are now doing this to get employees to quit, to reduce the amount of responsibility they have to dole out in severance packages.

Really disgusting what's going on at BBBY.

Make the choice to go. Leave in good terms with your head held high, even if the place is tanking hard. You never know what’s down the line. I resigned and put in my two weeks notice and finished professionally to the last day. Sadly my DM did not show that same professionalism and on the last day I would see him, he did not acknowledge me until I said hello and all he had for me was a dismissive good luck and a hand shake. It was disappointing.

If so there will be no severance packages this time . There cash on hand is barely keeping them solvent. Always better to go on your terms .It is tricky. But the wrong moves were made and time is not your friend
