Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Where is the communication !!!

It is absolutely appalling that while the web is flooded with "unofficial" reports all about Oracle layoffs.  Not a word has been communicated from our leadership about what is going on and what they have planned around laying off employees.

No comment on what is the target number of layoffs, when will these be completed, severance packages ( including heath care coverage) etc. Not a word from anyone in an executive position.

Some of the employees have been with O for decades and gave their life to this company and helped build it into a giant.

And for all of this, no one has even the common decency to make an official announcement or hold a company wide meeting , communicating on what is being done to our employees livelihood.

It's one of the most pathetic, ungrateful and cowardly acts I have ever seen in corporate world.

The lack of any empathy for all of the employees ( and especially those who are impacted) not to conduct " one company wide communication" where "one message is delivered" and remove all of the rumors shows how O has changed.

I am sure O has individuals  monitoring this site as well as the many others which are  posting information about the cutbacks and the $1B target this is supposed to deliver and they know what of this info is not true and only making a bad situation worse.  The truth is that they "choose" not to do the proper and responsible thing which is to speak directly to the employees about what has been planned, how large will the cutback be, etc.

We have a much different culture today in this company than what existed 15, 20 or more years ago.  It shows how little all of the hard work and commitment the employees have put in is appreciated or even recognized by LE or the other leadership. It won't be forgotten.

Who can share any details of their experience from the EU markets? Are you in CX/Oracle Advertising or another business unit?

This is how O does it. Hasn’t changed one iota from when I got my phone call in 2015. Back in the mark terd days. He’s gone, nothing’s changed.

I think you are treated with extra disdain when you are an acquisition survivor. Don’t take it personally, Cerner folks. It’s not you, it’s just a soulless org that lost its way decades ago.

Oh, and while my original date of hire with my original org was used for vacation accum purposes (this was b4 so-called unlimited vacation), it was the Oracle hire date that was used to calc my severance. B@stards.

But I walked outa there with my box of stuff, head held high, calling out farewells to my now former long time colleagues.

And I took my substantial 401k outa their plan asap. Where it has grown nicely under proper investment and management over the past 7 years. There is always a silver lining. ( last year, received notice of a legal settlement for O and mismanagement of their 401k fees. Crooks! I knew it.)

If you need to retrain, look into the federal and state programs through your state’s Dept of unemployment. You can continue to receive UI, be released from job hunting while you school it and it costs you 0. That’s what I did.

Now, I’m sitting on top of the world at a new org, new career, new colleagues and managers that I love. Did I mention new/cutting edge cloud tech? O is such a poser with that stuff!

You can do that too! Make O a bad dream that fades by mid day. You can believe that lots of former O folks here are sending you alllll the vibes 😎

I received the news of my layoff today from my manager. I commend him for being open and empathetic in his delivery, which, despite the numbing reality caused by the news about the redundancy of my role, showed me that at least there was someone in the organization who cares. It is thus with a heavy heart knowing that I will no longer get to work with him and my team, and not so much about no longer working in Oracle.

It is truly appalling that with all the rumours and external press about the impending changes to the company, no one in the management has had the basic decency to inform employees internally on what was going to happen, even if in the simplest and abbreviated form possible.

The cold harsh corporate reality might have shaken and dazed us today, my fellow ex-employees of Oracle, but we rise again.

My entire team was laid off except me.

Start looking. It is not a good thing to be the last one standing. Get out you are in a terrible position right now.

you are an employee number on a spreadsheet. Nothing more. SC is as cold hearted as a hungry gator in the everglades.

For those still there, remember this. Is it worth working yourself half to death for a company that looks at you as a liability on an Excel form? Whether you put in your 40 hours or go crazy and work 80 the end result will be the same. no difference. You are not in the club and never will be. If you were, you could work 5 hours a week and survive. The fakers usually do.

How are you all coping? I got the news from my boss’ boss’ boss’ whom i’ve never met before and delivered the news in the most robotic way imaginable. The guy didn’t even bother turning on his camera as if I was fired from the big brother house. My actual boss only found out that half of his team will be laid off 5 mins before this call.

My robot manager sent the invite on Friday, ignored my pings & read off a script. Severance (Apple TV show) style. Fun times!

This is, and has always been, the Oracle way. Nothing new here, except for the new people affected.

“ My entire team was laid off except me. Feel like being in crash where only you survive and feel extreme guilt about your survival. This is so sad and painfully done. There needs to mental health support for all employees.”

You will also need support having to pick up after them, they will not hire anyone and you will be expected to pick up all their work. You may not see it but those that have been laid off have faired better, they have now been given the right push to go and find something better. Short term it will suck but long term they will be happier.

Coming from an ex-employee that survived many of these and endured the aftermath of each. YOu should do the same and look for another opportunity.

It is this way, because that is what LE wants. CX is just one more area that needs to "melt away". People are unimportant to the great and wondrous LE.

Oracle never really announces this kind of stuff and they don't care one iota. Internally, people just looks for the gaps where someone used to be and do the math.

The reason why middle management knows nothing is because they really dont know anything. Everything on this one has been behind closed doors, some people in the know have been privileged to know the information for a couple of months. Others found out today. This was and is a complete %$#%$# show. As for strategy moving forward my advice to customers is look at Salesforce, ServiceNow or anything other than Oracle you wont see anything new from CX for many many years to come.

Sad layoffs at most companies I’ve seen over the years are similar. I worked at a company they called a lot of managers to a big hotel conference center. When they got there they had the personal belongings from their desks boxed up and waiting for them. That’s when they were handed their layoff notices.

It sucks being a manager that has to layoff people. I’m not an O manager. But I was told at my old company, with the higher pay comes duties that aren’t for everyone. If you don’t want to do it, then take a non managerial position.

Sorry to hear so many people are being laid off.

This way they can leave everyone sitting on the edge of their chair and have these layoffs go on for months.

They don't have the guts to speak f2f, especially since it was their poor decision making that got us into this ho-e in the first place.

You haven’t been here for several of these. It is always ‘Don’t ask, don’t tell.’ People just disappear, you’d think we lived in Russia.
