Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Read those job ads carefully

I've noticed in the last few months that a lot of jobs that have "REMOTE" in the title are actually hybrid and not fully remote. I'm not sure what's the point of this since most people who are searching for remote jobs are nowhere near offices they'd have to go to for one to three days, but that's what's being advertised.

I applied and interviewed for a FISERV contracting position (IT) in May 2022. Job description said fully remote. Team works out of Alpharetta but they all were working fully remote. One of the guys mentioned RTO resistance but didn't make a big deal about it. After 2 long interview sessions, I seemed to be a good fit and they seemed eager to bring me on board. A week or so later, the recruiter said they were deciding whether or not the position could be remote. I live a few states away and am not moving. Then another week or so later, I start reading about all the layoffs.

I think I dodged a bullet here, and I found another 100% remote gig with a stable company. Thank you all for posting on this site.

Yep. When I applied for Fiserv I was told it was a full time remote position. Then when I started they told me it was a full time in office position. I immediately started looking for another job. Huge red flag.

Because no one will apply if the advertise the position correctly.

If position is fully remote, they would be hiring overseas for way cheaper.
