Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Strategically, how can Verizon better compete and increase shareholder value?

The company, Verizon Communications, is a valuable, Dow component of 30 Equity Corporations. What more needs to be done, as time is of the essence, to better compete, strategically and operationally, and to increase shareholder value?? Verizon needs to operate from a position of strength and not from a position of weakness.

Drop the Woke BS, it’s created a hostile politically charged work environment that has eroded our focus on business operations.

And then we pay everyone else to run our traffic instead of using our own network. Sure that's a great idea until they jack up the rates.

Stop using the vendors. There is soooo much waste there. I have worked on multiple projects where they pay the vendor and then change priority and the project the vendors was paid for is cancelled but the vendor is still paid.

You can't run this company with vendors, they don't care and aren't invested in the company or the customers.

I struggle to think of any acquisitions that have been a net benefit except VzW for which we paid the absolute highest possible price. Upper management has been a bust for a long time. Gone are the likes of Ivan Seidenberg who actually could speak for everyone in this company and had a strategic vision that actually amounted to something. Nearly everyone since has tried and failed to be the next Ivan. We've had shots at elevating tried and true leaders, but we always seem to go for leaders who seem to be the next big thing but aren't. Enough already. Diversity training is good but profitability and a real vision with execution is necessary or any of this training doesn't mean anything. I would love for all the investment in and energy towards 5G to pan out. Remember Ivan was criticized for investment in this new thing called FiOS, but it was worth it in the long run. Now it's time for the monetization of 5G.

To me VZ needs to stop trying to pick the equivilent of penny stocks and hoping they turn around VZ.

If it doesnt help the core business stay out of it. Chasing some startups that are pipe dreams to make 5G relevant again stay out of it.

VZ is a boring company make boring money well.

He-l original post person. Thank you for clarifying your not a not : ). Again I think this decline has been 10 years in the making due to bad acquisitions at the executive level, bad strategy at the executive level and perhaps a leader ship that didn’t understand the business.I think there are some strong headwinds ahead of vz due to delays in the 5G rollout and the decline of the network Both Internet and MPLS Which verizon did not prepare for.

Corruption runs deep. The run rate for SOW, Vendor stuff is hundreds of millions on a monthly basis. Vendors are paid and work never gets done. And soon enough they are paid another package to do the same work. Is it not time the board knows about the Indian corruption!

RE: the original post. Yes, I have a large stake in Verizon Communications, as a shareholder [value stock and dividends] and a co-habitant [soul mate and spouse], an employee. If this post is oddly worded [generalized not to be possessive, gender neutral, and grammatically a 3rd person narrative].

Do Verizon decision makers, read this blog site and their respective posts, to include the Board of Directors and/or the Verizon C-Suite?? Personally, believe certain Topics and the contributions by posters, do have merit equating to the have-nots.

Original post is oddly worded. You don’t work for vz.
This current financial situation is due to 10 years of bad decisions, bad acquisitions, wrong leadership and following the guidance of the overly expensive Boston Consulting.

Mike Damone's five point plan. Now pay attention:

  1. You never let on how much you like One Network and base the company strategy on overhyped we will solve the world 5G.
  2. You always call the shots, not some high price overrated convicted consultant like McKinsey.
  3. Act like where ever you are that's the place to be. Hans has this one down pat.
  4. When buying spectrum you find out what your competitors want and bid twice as much. It's a classy move.
  5. This is most important. When it comes down to meeting with Wall St. to review quarterly results, whenever possible put on side one of Led Zeppelin IV.

  1. comp the front line sales rep for their sales individually.
  1. Eliminate redundancy. R2B and I2B need to be eliminated. Stores send leads to BAM and if closed both are paid fully for the sale.
  1. Fix our shoddy pos!!! What a joke Omni is.
  1. Eliminate 1 team.
  1. Hold Director level, DM and Store leadership accountable.

Just a few things that would lead to success.

Review the existing panel of the Board of Directors and inject/replace accordingly.

Amicably, incentivize, enrich, as to how to make every Verizon employee use Verizon plans for Fios, TV, and Mobile usage. Enrich, so Verizon employees dont drift to the other fierce competitors products and plans.

  1. Increase employee pay. All of my peers are living paycheck to paycheck now and they are miserable in life. Most stress I've ever seen in the corporate world. I had someone break down and cry because they couldn't afford bills and food.
  1. I stopped going into My Source since every article in there is about diversity, inclusion and how the company is paying for abortions in other states. It's all soooo fake. Oh look, another special HR and leadership lecture about the made up Juneteenth holiday. The company ignored Father's Day LMAO.
  1. The performance agreement metrics are a joke. Who thought it was a good idea to have a metric worth 50% of your yearly stats in Customer Service based on the opinion of your Supervisor? I've talked to a few Supervisors who state they see other Supervisors specifically give people passes for people they like and give a developing mark for those they don't like who do the same thing. Bahavior Rating is a very stupid metric.
  1. Systems are broken and everyone is sick of hearing how they're being worked on and fixed. After two years, I just accept that everything is broken and our IT team who is outsourced can't fix anything.
  1. Get rid of Hans. The guy ran Ericsson into the ground and he is doing it to Verizon as well. How do you destroy two companies in a row?! I love how we get all of these "ethics" emails, but Ericsson is being investigated now for illegal bribes and payments to Isis all while he was CEO of them. Total hypocrisy. How about some ethics of paying your employees a real wage first, instead of increasing their bills?
