Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

I wish people would stop hating on Oracle

It's not perfect but let's be honest, many could do much worse than here. I've been here for more than three decades and I never felt the need to attempt to leave. The only major issue is layoffs, but if you know what you're doing and you keep your skills updated, you can be 90 percent certain that you're safe. I don't understand what so many are complaining about.

“ Every time I have to open a ticket at Oracle support, it's one more migraine inducing session of training an "english as a 2nd language" fresher on the product they are supposed to be supporting. “

That’s support, but have you tried working with Consulting? A very different organization now. The ones who knew what they were doing have gone. The new people have book knowledge, but no experience.

As an Oracle customer for the last 18 years, I can say without doubt that the company is not the same as it once was. A lot of knowledge has left over the past decade. Every time I have to open a ticket at Oracle support, it's one more migraine inducing session of training an "english as a 2nd language" fresher on the product they are supposed to be supporting.

Just so you know, long term employees who have withered perspective and an aversion to NIH (not invented here) are a problem in every org. Like many things it depends on how many you have. Can cripple any major change initiatives.

At the big 0, one thing is for certain. Only the fakers, frauds and posers survive.

Having left Oracle after being there for 20 years, I met and worked with a number of guys just like this OP who worked their way up without doing much of anything, kissed up to the right people in the right positions, and escaped RIFs at every turn. They often took credit for work they nothing on.

Oracle and this slug deserve each other. Glad I left.

What a joke! Many ex-Oracle employees worked their butts off, knew what they were doing, and were major contributors, and still they were RIFd. This poster is either an HR plant, he he’s one of the perennial boot-lickers of Oracle management who has used many other honest employees to make himself look good over his 30 year “tenure”. The guy is a weasel that no other top company would ever want to keep, and Oracle deserves this clown.

It’s back to….
If you can’t see the problem even after 30 years…then YOU are the problem.

So I guess the people that left for better jobs didn’t keep their skills up?
I agree… 30 years time for to go!
OP, Oracle can thank you for attrition.

Oracle has no clue that they are broken.

Perhaps it is time to move over and let someone else have a run!
