Thread regarding PayPal layoffs

Worst year since I've been working here

Honestly, I didn't think this year would be doom and gloom as it turned out to be. I've been working at PayPal for more than eight years and I don't think it's ever been worse. I wonder what awaits us until the end of the year (if we don't get cut in the meantime)?

The company doesn't have a fiduciary duty to its employees, it does to the stockholders. Whenever you hear the word stake holder keep in mind it has no legal definition, its used to get employees to buy in. If i was a real stock holder id want my interest in the company protected. The leadership team really messed up and they are using the tried and true method of improving stock price and saving their butts. Layoffs and offshoring. Keep in mind the leadership team took huge raises last year and are going to have to account for this. To answer the question: It does seem to be returning to normal but i think that's just the feeling we get when something bad happens and time passes.

Morale will only improve when Schulman leaves and takes his Amex team with him, they're some of the worst in the industry.

I've also been here for years and yes, morale is worse than it's ever been and I don't see it returning. When they start doing these layoffs when stock price is also plummeting, talent that hasn't been fired starts looking elsewhere - from what I've heard we've had massive issues with retention.

Since I got 0% for a raise this year and lost 70% in value in the stock that I'm required to receive as part of "compensation", you can bet I'm also looking.

I’m with you on this. I’ve been here well over a decade, never bought into all their culture bs, but have always been a hard worker. Morale is not making a comeback. It’s nauseating how people that busted their butts were treated. This company does not care about its employees or it’s customers. And I’m done being an advocate for them.

After working all through covid 19 you'd think there'd be some recognition and thanks. Nothing but redundancies where I am and I don't see the point of working hard for this company anymore.
