Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

You can leave this company. It is doable.

Don't stay there because you think this is the best you can get. That place (BPX) is not competitive. Its not premier.

I left several months ago and I was super depressed. This place stagnated my career. There is very little opportunity to grow there. I thought my time as an engineer was over. They treated me like dirt. They walked all over me and did not respect me or my time. I look at these posts and I can see how many people have been hurt by this place. Its awful. You have to take control of your career. Get out of there. The leaders back stab and talk sm--k about eachother. There is no trust.

I landed a phenomenal job at a different E&P and things are way better now. They treat me like a person and they see my value and worth. I stayed at BP so long I had forgotten how good this industry can be. I just heard that most of the HR team just quit BPX. The writing is on the wall. People aren't putting up with it anymore. Benefits are dwindling and the stock price is in the toilet compared to other majors. Top talent is leaving all the time. I'm going to lunch soon with 5 individuals who recently left or who are about to leave.

Let this be an encouragement to you. Get out of there. That place is not worth it. You will be much happier elsewhere unless you are a part of the "in crowd" at BPX. You know what I mean if you've worked there more than a few months.

On another note, it does appear that there is 2 or 3 people relations folks that they have hired to post on this board to muddy the waters around the toxic culture this company has. Look through the feeds and you will notice this as a common theme. Don't be fooled by it.

There is life on the other side of that place. Trust me.

I had a tear in my eye reading the Matthew 23:25 reference. Little appears to have changed in how human being organize themselves over millenniums:

So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. 4 They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.

5 “Everything they do is done for people to see: They make their phylacteries[a] wide and the tassels on their garments long; 6 they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues; 7 they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to be called ‘Rabbi’ by others.

I just left and I don't regret it either. That place is going downhill fast.

Encouraging to see this. I'm on my way out. I hate it here.

OP here responding to your question about where I went. I won't be sharing that information here. Knowing how the leadership at BPX works I have no doubt I would risk retaliation.

When I had my exit interview (it was a joke of an exit interview) I could see the mentality of the leaders I spoke with. They were shocked but then got defensive when I told them the truth about why I was leaving. They did not want to hear it. Their character is very low.

I loved seeing this post. It’s so true. I just left a little less than a month ago. I found out I was way underpaid. They only promote their buddies and it’s horrible working there. I tried for years to work towards career progression. They are not interested in promoting the best and brightest. They are too focused promoting friends and pushing the woke agenda. Have you seen the drag queen nonsense they posted on LinkedIn recently?

I am now working at another large O&G company. Their systems and data are way better and the work culture is way healthier here. I wish I would have left sooner. I gave this company years of my life and they don’t appreciate any of it. Their ethics are horrible and leadership lies to you while they sc--w you.

Good riddance!

LT cares way more about Linkedin virtue signaling than any of their employees

I agree that BP monitors this board. If you post anything that isn’t in agreement with management’s views it immediately gets deleted. Don’t believe me? Try it for yourself.
