Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

I can't remember the last time I did a 40-hour week

I can't even remember when I did a 50-hour week, now that I think about it. The amount of work some of us are expected to do is inhumane (pun intended). I see that for some of you things are improving and I'm truly happy for you, but you need to understand that's not the case for all of us. I wish it were, but I guess I'm among the unlucky ones.

It is also the norm for hourly associates. I worked in a dept where it was “highly recommended “ that we work 45-50 hours a week for the last 2-3 years. Senior leadership forced the supervisors to come down hard on everyone. Then, they wondered why there were people leaving left and right! Supervisors included.

Grossly this is the norm for salaried in the US. Great for companies to get the work of 3 but pay for 2. Not so great for the exempt worker.

In care management we were salaried and worked at least 50 hours a week like you are doing. Someone filed a class action lawsuit against Humana and won and we suddenly went to hourly employment. Will never be an salaried again. Best of luck. It was miserable

OP- I’m assuming you’re exempt and only paid for 40 hours because this seems to be the norm at Humana. I average less than 50/hours a week because I refuse to put in more hours than my leaders. My suggestion is you set an acceptable amount of time to do your job and stand firm.
