I hear you.
I’m against stock buybacks in general. It is a poor use of capital and is done to manipulate the price of the stock. Do it if you have invested in top notch technology with all the systems integrated and speaking to each other. Do it if you have invested in the technology and talent to provide the proper oversight to get us where we need to be with the regulators. Do it if you are not, at the same time, laying off workers and offshoring American jobs to “cut costs”. If the goal is to reward shareholders, then get the dividend back to where it was before he/the BOD cut it. The fact is that Charlie benefits personally from his stock options if he gets the stock price up to certain levels.
Tim Sloan was publicly criticized for spending $40 Billion on stock buybacks.after the facts. And here we are back again.

@hty+1hn10yPj I have to say that #3 is not entirely fair. What the stock will do is not something that the buyback team can predict with certainty. Would they have spent less if they could have? DUH! Of course because then they could have bought magnitudes more for a better result!
Every analyst out there says our stock is undervalued and has said it’s been cheap for quite a long while now. The fact that it got cheaper is not something that could have been easily predicted. Timing the market is very tricky business which is why dollar cost averaging your purchase for something you will hold for the long run is a sound strategy.
Not that I’d give management a pass on anything but time travel is not in their skill set.

- Your cold callused heart?
- All of the above?
