Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

South Florida Management team is base on 18 years old LOL

Miami is targeting 18 years old as the future SMs or GMs LOL!!!

not sure how other markets are but here in Miami feels like working at a daycare....

Kids straight out of HS, long ago we had reps with at least an Associate Degree, now as long as they can keep their pants from not falling down they can wear the KFC T-Shirt.

If that's true, it's because they don't want to pay.

Just another tenured rep who never got their chance. Clearly they were able to do your job - hence the reason they were promoted to begin with you big cry baby.

Leave please I’m begging you find your way and begin your new journey. The ones that are tenured will eventually get fired. The ones that are young of energy and can easily be manipulated will be the new generation. Verizon prides itself on being a Fortune 500 company and that’s their selling point. They boast about how great of a company they are but won’t pay the premium. If your looking here to vent I understand but take this as encouragement. Find a new career utilize Verizon’s name as a badge to say I’ve worked here and this is what I’m capable of. You are capable of a brighter future fighting for a change here is like talking to a brick wall.

complaining will not change things unfortunately. leaving for something better is easier than bringing change (union or otherwise) that will result you in getting fired and maybe benefitting future workers if any stores are still
left.

making life he-l is upper management's way or getting rid of tenured workers.
open your eyes!

There are a lot of reps in their 30’s and 40’s who complain a lot. Most are legitimate complaints though. Finding a rep in their 50’s is a rarity these days. I work in a district with 60 employees and nobody is over 50 , this includes managers.

@jmv+1hmoRRAg I don’t know where you work but how many people in their 50’s even work in retail stores anymore ? Especially the entry level Rep jobs. I think the real issue here is that what may be considered an entry level job is anything but given the expectations Verizon has. No 19 year old has the talent or know how to make a real difference. Verizon is only hiring young because they more easily conform to slamming sales tactics without pushback. In other words they don’t know any better and managers want that full control.

Working at Wal Mart retail for the same wage as Verizon retail. Only difference is that Verizon retail is 20x more stressful and requires a lot more skill. If you're getting a new job, avoid Verizon at all cost since they apparently doesn't acknowledge that it's a hard job and just considers it an "entry level" position, so they pay just that.

VZ Retail use to require AA or 2 yrs of college. Sounds like That is no longer the case. It is retail. Team commissions. However, VZ still wants professional individual results. That is where VZ and BBY differs. Can’t expect those types of results in this model.

well retail is an entry level job so of course they target teens! retail is not a place for bitter 50 year olds that complain about everything.
