Work location

Does anyone know how far away from your assigned office you can live? Can you live in two different cities but the same state? Or is there a specific number of miles you can’t go above

My department has team members who have changed states several times over the past 5 years yet maintain the same MAC. Boss knows. Doesn’t care. Employees know that if asked to report onsite somewhere they will have to address it.

thr 40mi rule applies to what they assign you or reassign you if corporate makes a change, but if you want to move it's up to you how far you want to commute be it 5mi or 500mi, just show up as expected

If you were assigned to an office (i.e. you lived within 40 miles of an office when RTO happened) and you want to move, you can move anywhere you want as long as you show up at your assigned office. But if you move outside the 40 miles you can't then declare yourself a new 100% remote arrangement - those are banned.

40 miles is the answer, but I wouldnt bet on severance if you live over that distance.

If you are greater than 40 miles from a new location assigned you can instead get severance. But if you already have a location then move more than 40 miles away, you can't.

I think the technical expectation is a "commutable distance" so whatever that means to you.. Before COVID we had multiple people doing 2 hours each way commutes in our office.

The CEO wouldn't move to San Fran HQ for a $30m a year job, so who the fu-k cares?! Live wherever the fu-k you want to!! Don't be a corporate sheep!
