My manager is a ghost

0 contribution to my career development. MIA in any situation where supervisor support is needed. Reads from a meaningless script when hosts meetings.

Do you have such ghost (s) in your work life?

99% managers here are ghosts. Completely useless. Layoffs should start with them.

Better question would be, is any manager who is not a ghost. My former manager was there to collect a paycheck that’s all.the more I think about it the more I hate what I went thru. I need a therapy after that. They go undetected and continue making people lives miserable.

yep, especially when I was a relief manager. my immediate manager was always bailing me out (not their responsibility but always helped me). i could never find the manager i was assigned to work with, and when i did find them getting help was like pulling teeth. the only time i really ever got communication was if/when i did something 'wrong'. i always had to justify why i did what i did, usually with the directive of my direct, and then whatever i did was okay.
