They told us that we had until mid December and that's what we signed off on and now we are hearing that we might get canned in two weeks?! Are you guys hearing this ?

OP here - wanted to give an update - yes, I did get let go, 6/30 was my last date even though I was told that I would be employed through December. The blessing in all this is that to avoid getting sued they paid me through my original release date, along with the original "layoff package" they had me sign off on previously - but they immediately (and I really do mean immediate - I was given 7 days notice) cut my benefits. I had to scramble to get on my spouses health insurance. I am happy to be done with this sinking ship... no more anxiety (other than that of not having a job) and no more wondering when the axe will drop on me. I wish you all a tremendous deal of good luck out here - I really hope all the OFS employees find good places to go with much better salaries.
A lot of things moving today, several teammates got suspicious meeting invites for tomorrow. It's definitely happening 6/30. Good luck to all of us, at least we don't have to be here for this wreck anymore.
Yes, and be prepared. Especially if you are currently remote
If I signed something that says I will be released on X date, can I still be in the list for this Q2 release?
- 2 weeks notice is not a requirement it’s a courtesy (from both side, unless as stated below there is a state law)
- All groups are impacted, some more than others.
- In regards to the aforementioned state laws, the company knows them too. If the state law is 50, they will lay off 49 if it suits them to not have to follow the disclosure and notice requirements. They can then fire another 49 later and so on.
- Always plan on layoffs right before the qtr ends (along with delays on new hires, large purchases etc). Frank can’t make the numbers for Wall Street with the actual revenue so he will cut people and delay things so he can’t report good numbers and buy himself 2.5 months to try to fix it again.
- He will never make the numbers to get the NJ tax break but he will keep trying, hoping the recession makes enough people desperate.
Glad I’m out
Normally, no warning is given but, yes, there are instances where a company will announce the closure of a location or department in advance and notify those employees of their last day. Often times there are city/state statutes that drive this. One example is a city/state where Fiserv operates that requires companies to notify of any event that impacts 50 or more employees. Makes sense. They have a government to run. The state has to be prepared for unemployment claim spikes. The city has to be prepared for effect on economic outlook, job creation optics, etc. Fiserv, if they did indeed announce for these reasons, can very well change the date provided it’s within stated timeframes. For example, if the state says 30 days notice and Fiserv told employees 60-90 days, then they are allowed to come after you at 30. In states where no such laws exist then it’s the Wild West. One final thought, as someone else posted: stop asking for Business Units, or BUs, as one poster refers to them. First, it’s irrelevant unless you are scared for your own job (you shouldn’t be.) Secondly, if you don’t fit rule 1 then you’re an HR narc trying to see where there’s a leak. Go away.
You don't get notice when you are laid off.
One day they will start calling people into their managers office, and former employees are walked out of the building at the end of the meeting. Sometimes you get two minutes to collect some of your stuff before you are walked out.
Employees give the employer two weeks notice. Employers give their employees the finger and walks them out the door.
Get the F out, you sheep! Take control of your careers, your life. Dont let this layoff noise distract you from getting somewhere better. You will be on the list the longer you stay and this job market will turn.
If this is all happening before Q3 does anyone know when they are telling people they no longer have jobs? It sounds like some people have upper management connections or insights
Today would've been 2 weeks notice
So you want people to dox themselves? Hold on let me post my name last name hire date and employee number, to make it easier for corporate to figure out who's talking about the games they are playing. Grow up, go look in the mirror, and try and fix stupid.
Payments is indeed doing it. 20% cut. We are also speeding up our deliver - God knows how
What is wrong with you?? Can you not read people are asking for the BUs impacted or is this just to keep us on edge?!
Can't fix stupid.
Across all BU's. Each with a fixed dollar amount to hit. No exceptions. Blood Bath.
Get ready for reduced or eliminated match other reductions.
Prospects RUN. Current clients many of are reviewing their SLA's be ready to take your problems public.
Rather than taking a paycut, Mr. Frank will fire a couple thousand people to artificially boost earnings.
You "signed off on" like you actually signed something? Or you just believed what they told you? Why would you trust anyone that already determined they want to let you go.
Well Frank did say in the Omaha townhall there is concern about current economics…this would not surprise me…
Business units???
We don't have enough employees as it is now. They want to let more go?
Which business units please?
Also be happy if you get a package. There is no requirement unless you have something in writing. They just do it as a precaution so you sign away rights to sue in the off chance you have a case.
What business unit is laying off ? Any word on remotes?
Confirmed not a rumor, they are pulling in layoffs due to the economic slow down. Better to release people early and run lean(er) than wait until the end of the year.
Frank is such a great leader. Not
They can hit me with a package anytime.
I've been here a decade and am being let go for the jersey move. Your remote jobs, even if you were told you are safe, are only temporarily safe. Don't put your faith in Frank. They are really messing up a lot of lives.
These are the same people who are telling our remote employees not to worry because they are "safe".
Getting away from 6+ months of paying employees. It's criminal.
