Thread regarding Ford layoffs

The uncertainty is totally demoralizing me

Ford expects us to work and be motivated as if cuts were not a concern at all.
And what do we expect from Ford? Don't we deserve at least a little more transparency regarding cuts?
Or perhaps that is the goal, to keep us in total uncertainty and fear?

You are not alone. There are an awful amount of people, stressed to the max and feeling completely demoralized right along side you. The Town hall this morning didnt help. It felt incredibly disjointed from the reality the employees are living. it would be much better if they just said, this is the plan, this is when we plan on implementing the plan, and this is why we believe in the plan. There are too many of us, that means from the senior management to the janitorial staff. We are going to reduce the ranks in these divisions by this percentage. we plan on implementing this in this quarter in a measured and stepped approach starting with voluntary retirement packages first. those packages will begin to go out to the affected staff on this date.

This is a very difficult time for all us here at the company as we attempt to implement the plan for the betterment and longevity of the company as we transition to a new era of automotive transportation.

That's all we need, that's what we deserve as employees that have dedicated so much of our lives to the company. It is depressing when the reality is that the senior management doesn't believe we deserve that respect.

Given the dismal performance of Ford stock and the Ford family's sensitivity about the dividend and stock price I agree he is putting off the layoff plan until tomorrow.

Been there... but at the end there is nothing you can do about avoiding or surviving in the cut. This used to be about 10 yr cycle and recently starting from 2019 Ford has been constant small - medium size cuts. I'm trying to move away from automotive now. Doing few interviews since April this year.

If the intent is uncertainty then there should be no surprises regard quality and performance.

I worked with Farley. I think you will hear tomorrow (my guess). He doesn't want much getting him off message for today's 5pm Earnings Call where he will face lots of questions

Having gone through several of the latest termination actions and left standing at the end, I came to believe that is the intention, keep people in total uncertainty and ambiguity. I directly asked all of my management if I need to be concerned and get no answers except keep chugging. Life is not always fair but it doesn't have to be tormenting either like Ford does.
