Yes, there will be layoffs end of Aug going into September. NCR needs to get rid of the old experienced employees. After thats done the hiring freeze will be lifted and then all the young interns and new graduates will be hired to replace the old.
So here is the deal.. yes the purse strings got tightened up a little bit to make the company more attractive to go private.. We have to make investments for the long term without Investors freaking out about the numbers.. Look at the stock after the Q1 earnings call.. It was not a bad quarter, yet the stock tanked.. Why the market over reacted to a smaller number than what they wanted.. Going private for NCR is the right call.. Company will end up going private at $47 a share that's the number the board is looking for.. Company will sit private for a few years, and then go back on the market when it spins back off, in a much better position.
22 year employee who was a Director in Product Management was laid off Thursday in GHQ. I haven't heard of others, but fully expecting it; so doing my best to apply at other places. It does seem tough to find something when in your 40s and looking for a higher salary to leave, despite the "hot" economy in the US.
Per a friend who works in HR there will be layoffs end of Aug going into September. After thats done hiring freeze will be lifted.
It August folks, it’s ramping up time for the holiday blow out. If the past 15 - 20 years you haven’t figured it out. It’s not if, it when. The old the bigger the targets get.
I know you think it's funny, but some truth to your response. Layoffs come and they go, they have become the norm. Now, NCR has had firing freeze, travel freeze, bad on purchases unless approved at VP level for months. The reason, Hayford and team wanted to cut as much as possible, still keeping the doors open to make Q2 look "really good on paper" for any buyer. May have worked. Not so much cooking the books and ripping out pages and hiding them. Will they get away with it, they already have!
In 5 years, no one will remember NCR except for those few who really enjoyed working there "back in the day" when it was a much better company.
Ok, I’ll add to the ambiguous comments with no context then.
Layoffs. Everyone. Everyone at NCR will be fired within the next 24 hours. No severance. They will also take all employees houses and cars, and force their children into indentured servitude.
Easy to talk out of your a$$ when this is all anonymous on the page.
Layoffs coming through Aug. All departments
To the person laid off, which department are you in? How long have you been with the company? Age?
More details would add to the credibility of your statement.
I was laid off today. It’s happening.
Coming this week across multiple departments
I heard there were some layoffs out west in CA, as well as OH and some southeast states. Lately it’s been quiet but like my manager and TL, they like to surprise you with sudden requests. Don’t put anything past this company. I’ve been looking elsewhere and went on an interview Preparing to move on, just a matter of when.
If anyone has information please share. Regardless of location, division etc…
I get nervous when things become too quiet.
