@1ipo+1hTtz4ml I knew a long time ago that Farley reads this board. He spends his entire day on Twitter looking for mentions of himself, so of course he's going to come over here and obsess over what the employees are saying about him. He is a classic narcissist.

BTW, you guys know that Farley is reading this blog. It was discussed and confirmed.

I hope he sees this thread

The leak did not contain a great deal of info. So that suggests someone with high level or peripheral knowledge, so it's less likely that the person(s) had been "read into the program" under an NDA. Even so,
Bloomberg would have req'd the source to be credible with a way to substantiate the info. It could be someone in Public Affairs, Corporate Finance, Human Resources, or a vendor tasked with the separation administrative role. Of course this is speculation.

@mre I agree, the video Farley released after the leak was way too cold for him to have meant it on purpose. He definitely seemed pi---d he had to address this

I think everyone is giving Farley and his minions way too much credit. There’s no way they wanted this news leaked. Bill, Truby and Farley are obsessed with projecting a good guy image of themselves and the company. This tarnishes that and guarantees it’s the first thing they’ll be asked about by the press.

Another poster had pointed out Bloomberg would not have published that kind of news had it come from a little guy. It must have had vast credibility from way high up. And certainly there is a benefit: if you fu-k off all on your own that is so much easier.

I don’t think it was leaked purposely. Look what happened with the bonus % for LL5 and above. They actually thought nobody would find out about that! I think they once again (mistakenly) figured this would be kept quiet. They could then throw it out when they were ready to appease Wall Street this earnings season. Smartest guys in the room……

I think any incentive from the c suite to leak this lies in attrition hopes. By dropping the info, they know some people are going to panic and start looking for other jobs or retiring on their own without being forced. This softens the blow of a layoff target, and could also potentially justify them sending jobs out of the country as they're "losing employees." I could be wrong but seems like those things would correlate.

What is the advantage to Farley/c-suite in leaking this in advance? Serious question.

Same as @kys stated, it's a C-Level play

Lawler with Farley's approval.
This is my opinion based on logic and common sense.
I have no insider info on this.
I may be 100% wrong.

Man, it's only Monday.
