Thread regarding PayPal layoffs

Morale is at an all time low

I've been working here for a long time and that's why I can safely say that morale has never been lower. Main reason for that are bad managerial decisions. PayPal urgently needs to boost employee morale so that the remaining knowledgeable employees don't leave, I just don't know what would be realistically possible at this moment to help raise our morale?

Nobody is safe, unless you came from Amex or SDNY. At least as long as the top 2 id--ts, Schulman and Aaron K, are around. Honestly, how can your entire layoff approach be to offshore jobs and not touch the most expensive and least effective office out there? Is there any valuable work coming out of NY?

Management is telling people no one is safe. Literal quote.

From what I'm hearing internally it's not just layoffs. Management is having a bigger problem with people just quitting. I can't say I blame them.

Schulman is jetting across the globe with his new girlfriend Summerly in the company jet and leadership is left to fend for itself. Agreed, morale is at its lowest and everyone, literally every top PM and PM Management is leaving PP like its a dumpster fire. Not too optimistic about Q2, but waiting to see how Elliott thing plays out.

One of main issues is that from 2016 on they’ve just brought in friends or former contatcs and used all budget to give each other promotions to protect themselves. This created huge gap and frustrations in lower grades where nothing happened really. Reality is that, once the expected post ebay separation share price euphoria ended and once the pandemic bo-m ended too, most business decisions and strategies were disastrous.

They are too busy planning phase 2 of the mass layoffs and reorganization.

Hit the nail on the head with the NY lawyers. NY office in general are all full of themselves and never listen.

They have lost so many talented people and all they have left at the top are id--ts from card companies or NY lawyers, both of which have absolutely no idea what they're doing. Honestly best bet would be the company getting sold and/or Schulman fired so they can get this awful executive leadership out of here. It's incredible how clueless they are. Sometimes I'm surprised this company even functions at this point.

Nobody wanted to go back to the office so this is our punishment.

Keeping our morale at an all time low so that we beg to come back to the office.

Can’t even think of anything they can do at this point. Even if they pulled everyone aside and gave assurances that our jobs are safe, well I wouldn’t believe them for a minute. They’ve also negatively impacted customers with their decisions, as some departments are weeks behind now. They aren’t making money off of people that can’t use their accounts…

Gotta love seeing all the positions they eliminated open on the Bridge…in India and Guatemala. Then they send out the “vote for best workplace” survey…pathetic.

I don't know, maybe stop outsourcing jobs to low cost regions then claiming redundancy? They're pi----g on us and calling it rain.

Managers and higher don't know what the teams actually do, and aren't interested in the input of the individuals on those teams.

They're firing knowledgeable employees for non-performance issues, which is going to spook everyone. Considering there's a freeze on promotions in at least a couple of orgs, yearly raises can be 0% regardless of your performance, and there are no raises otherwise... Yeah, of course morale is low. I'm watching a lot of people leave before they get fired. Once I find something else I'll be joining them.

They need better and less lazy leaders in charge. Start with that
