If there is a RIF, it is already set in stone who is on the list. It was planned months ago. That's how ours was because of one little slip. I tried to get my location swapped six months before the RIF and I could not do it. Nobody would tell me why but I later found that once you are on a RIF list your location must be frozen. This is a law because it prevents a company from moving you from a high unemployment compensation state to a low one. I found that out quite by accident.
DO NOT work yourself to death for this (or most any other company for that matter). Do your job get your work done as a top professional but at the end of the day, leave and don't think about it. They will cut and forget about it ten seconds after you are gone. They deserve the time you put in for the time they pay you but nothing more. They deserve neither your health or sanity, you are a salary on a spreadsheet.
