Oracle urgently needs a fairer approach to layoffs.
Those who are affected, I have no doubt that they will manage and find something better for themselves in the foreseeable future, but it is very disastrous for this company to cut people who really worked hard at their jobs, while leaving behind those who do almost nothing. Just saying.

Maybe the OP wants to be given a fuzzy, stuffed unicorn along with his pink slip?
To quote a line from a movie..."Deservin's got nothing to do with it".
Remember this.
Fair is to oust those that have bigger closets and bedrooms than most peoples modest honest. Let you guess who I mean
Do you really think that Oracle cares about fairness during RIFs? Safra’s spreadsheet is nothing more than a calculator, so who gets dumped during a RIF is not due to any fair treatment of employees.
Or, for that matter, making them wait ~2 months wondering if the axe is going to eventually fall on them this time. Other companies are still hiring, even as the economy slows. They're going to lose some good people.
Of course they are making a mistake, but who cares about the company if they don’t care about us? Don’t assume that everyone will just get by, makes you sound like you are in HR.
