More likely because of huge investment in Sports Marketing like Red Bull Racing and Sail GP. Not enough money left over for other marketing

Cerner is a very profitable company. It's not like Oracle acquired a start up.
So if sales go into the septic system, you can't blame Cerner and their "worthless employees", yes? Who am I kidding, somebody will try.

How many new sales from the Red Bull sponsorship? How many reps would tell you they were able to make quota this year because of the Red Bull advertising? my guess is the number is zero. Marketing had a very weak set of leaders, perhaps the new people will do better.
Squandering $500 million on Redbull doesn't help. It's over spending by A.K. Now so many people have to pay the price. Sure, he's gone too, but pretty sure he has a nice separation package unlike the regular folks who are being affected.
The reason for layoffs is bad management of the company.
Sponsorships are in the millions
Most likely is the need to increase EPS and maintain increase margins.
Cerner acquisition + many end-of-life products / recession = layoffs.
As if the the offloading of office space, expense budget cuts and hiring freezes weren’t a sign… definitely not Red Bull sponsorship…
Red Bull does not come with 28,000 mouths to feed.
