Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Perhaps it is wiser to try to keep good employees

The company makes almost no effort to retain even the best employees. After such an employee leaves to realize his full potential elsewhere, he or she is replaced by someone whose competences are quite disappointing. The worst thing is that those employees leave very quickly too. Isn't that a huge expense for the company? Isn't it cheaper to try to keep good employees? That is something that I will probably never understand.

I can honestly say maybe one in 10 of our new hires make it past 6 months, most quit after being on the floor for less than a month. If you can go to Walmart and make $20 an hour to stock shelves why would you stay here and be constantly belittled by management about numbers and treated like cr-p by customers???

Our new hire was a manager at McDonalds, for for months. I asked them what happened. They side stepped admitting that they were fired. "Welcome aboard, you'll fit right in"

As seasoned employees filter out and new hires come in it makes it more frustrating working in the stores. Obviously the company does not care about this. They want all long term employees to just leave on their own.

If I had a nickel for every d-mb policy, idea or change that this company has made over the last ten years, I'd retire and just post on this board everyday.
