I know I'm not the only one. I think it would be better for everybody involved if they offered a voluntary buyout before they decide to have layoffs. I can't guarantee that enough people would accept to completely remove the need for layoffs, but there would certainly be enough of us to reduce it substantially.

It sounds like you should quit and save someone a job who enjoys the company and their job.
I suspect the better people would take the payout. Use it for some downtime while searching for the next job.
Really, the better people are already leaving. This would simply cost Oracle money. Why pay people to leave when you can work them to death and they will leave on their own?
