There is a reason IBM partnered with Amazon back in May. Note google was first asked, but they and AK could not come to an agreement, so IBM went to the number 1 player vs the number 3. You can see where this is leading

Here is my perception of where IBM Cloud is nowadays:
IBM no longer wants to "Host" its own cloud. Instead IBM wants to "Support" other clouds (i.e. AWS, Azure, GCP, etc...). "IBM is all in on Hybrid." "The world is going Hybrid."
But, because IBM suckered a few companies to move to one of their 2 competing attempts at cloud (IBM Cloud, and Softlayer), IBM has to continue on with hosting until those clients leave.

I keep hearing lot of traction on VPC with Financial Services customers. Will have to see how it contributes to the bottom line.
