Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Managers who use fear as a management tool

It's tiring having to deal with managers who use fear as a management tool every day. Do they honestly think that yelling at us and repeating again and again that we will lose our jobs if we don't do this or that is a good way to manage? All they are achieving is making us resentful and more determined to leave as soon as possible.

Couldn't agree more. I'm so worn out and tired of wondering what I'm going to be threatened for next. It's becoming increasingly impossible to work at Truist. No one cares. I've filed 2 HR complaints that have gone no where. My boss keeps telling me "if you're not making money, I'm not making money"......imagine my motivation of wanting to work harder. So disappointed in what this company has become.

The HR department is indeed the part of the bank dedicated to handling personnel issues, but, believe it or not, actual human beings do work in that department. I think the post is about what the actual people who worked in the department thought about the process.

I had more than one tell me with clear disgust their concern over age discrimination, and the unfair allocation of jobs (and skewed selection process) towards SunTrust.

Since when does the HR department at ANY company care about the employees? HR exists to protect the company from lawsuits, not to help the employees.

As the chapter closes, I would love to hear the perspective of someone that worked in hBBT’s HR department thru the merger. I have always wondered what went on behind the scenes, and if anyone in that group ever spoke up as they were charged with processing the documentation that was weeding-out their former BB&T friends and coworkers.

I love living in fear. It keeps me on my toes. Please Boss Daddy, yell at me louder. Oh, yes, more please, Boss Daddy!

I agree, that is the SunTrust way. To keep you afraid and on edge, like you are extremely dispensable. It is going to really hurt the company. I took VSRP and am so glad to be away from all of that.

One thing every employee will soon learn about Truist (really SunTrust) is performance standards only apply to the “little” people. If we were Amazon, or Apple, or any remotely successfully managed company I could understand the drive for perfection.

Instead, we have an unengaged Board of Directors overseeing an entitled executive team that takes out their leadership failures on their subordinates. The best way to deal with SunTrust is to get as far away from it as possible. When employees at Wells Fargo are laughing about Truist’s horrible work environment, that is all you need to know.

That's the SunTrust way of managing, get out if you can, it will only get worse!
