When those on top think cutting the highest earners is a great idea it shows how little they know in reality. Getting rid of the best people results in a workforce with ever-diminishing capabilities. Yes, they save money but they also incur future costs that will come from the lack of expertise and know-how. However, since it looks good on paper, nobody cares. Stupid is as stupid does, I guess.

Idk about your team but the best people in my role are not the highest earners
Pretty much on point. ./
Most of the top talent left with the 2018 VSP. Just union dregs and lifers left now.
If those on top really were going to eliminate the topmost earners first, they would self-eliminate. But that will never happen. Do you think the BOD would give up salary for the betterment of the company? What planet are your from?
The reality is no matter where your work or who you work for, you are just a number. You need to get over this and deal with it. Assume your employment is a contract which can be broken at any time. Loyalty while expected from the higher ups does not flow downhill. Remember uncle Harry's axioms, middle managers are like cats, they love to cover their s**t. Imaging we are all sitting in a tree, what do those higher ups see smiling faces, what do the lower down see looking up...arseholes.
